Frequently asked POOL SERVICE questions

What are the signs my pool filter needs repair or replacement?

Signs of filter trouble include persistently cloudy water despite proper chemical levels, visible cracks or damage to the filter housing, broken or torn filter cartridges or grids, water bypassing the filter, difficulty achieving proper pressure readings, or the filter losing pressure rapidly after cleaning.

Yes. We repair and service cartridge, DE (diatomaceous earth), and sand filters. Our technicians will assess whether the issue is a component repair, such as a broken valve or torn grid, or whether a full filter replacement is the better call.

We perform a thorough on-site diagnostic to identify the exact problem before recommending any repair or replacement. Filter repair costs vary by type and issue, so we always diagnose first and provide transparent pricing before any work begins.

With proper maintenance, a quality pool filter can last 10 to 20 years. Cartridge elements typically need replacing every 3 to 5 years, DE grids every 5 to 10 years, and sand every 5 to 7 years. Arizona’s hard water and heavy use can shorten these timelines.

Yes. Our service vehicles are stocked with common replacement filter elements, O-rings, valves, and fittings for major brands including Jandy, Pentair, and Hayward. This allows us to complete many filter repairs in a single visit.

A cracked filter housing is generally not safely repairable and typically requires replacing the entire filter body. Running a pool with a cracked filter is not recommended as it can compromise filtration effectiveness and pose a safety risk. Pool Pilots will assess the damage and provide an honest recommendation.
